Kyoto-Gekijo (Kyoto Theater) (京都劇場)

Kyoto-Gekijo is a theater located in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.

Summary

Shiki Theatre Company primarily use this theater to stage their musicals. Johnny&Associates used to put on performances at this place when it was called Kyoto Theatre 1200 (京都シアター1200) before its renovation. This theater has only public performances, unlike other theaters dedicated to Shiki Theatre Company and play only their musical.

The number of seats vary according to the performance. This theater was opened with a performance of the Phantom of the Opera.

It is not connected with the movie theater of the same name (the present Kyogeki bowling alley) which was on Kawaramachi Sanjo in Nakagyo Ward and was the first movie theater run by Toei until around 2000.
